The Future of Herbal Medicines Within Modern Society

Today, the public has more information about their health and the options available to them to prevent and / or treat the disease. Couple this information with the current focus on organics and natural health products, herbal remedies have become increasingly popular. Traditional herbs and herbal formulations used in India and China are the way to Europe, and thus increase the variety of herbal supplements available. No later than 30 October 2005 a new system of “traditional herbal medicines registration system” was introduced in the United Kingdom, who is also a prerequisite for the European Directive on traditional Herbal Medicinal Products (2004/24/EC). This is a simplified registration system, in which the corrective action must meet the safety and quality, but not necessarily as much power as a fully licensed product.

c) Licensed herbal medicines

In order to obtain a product license, the company must demonstrate that they meet certain herbal medicine safety, quality and efficacy.
